Histoire de l’art du Moyen Âge

L'étude de l'histoire de l'art du Moyen Âge englobe tous les genres artistiques des pays de l'Europe occidentale et centrale de la fin de l'Antiquité jusqu'à la fin du Moyen Âge dont les limites sont d'ailleurs difficiles à déterminer.

En outre les représentants de la branche souhaitent actualiser l'étude du Moyen Âge dans le sens de "l'histoire totale" en essayant de montrer que les structures sociales et mentales du Moyen Âge continuent de laisser une empreinte dans les activités artistiques des temps modernes.
