    Overview:

The second year Advanced English Programme courses (Autumn: "Informal Spoken English”; Spring: "Integrated Skills”) provide practical work  in speaking, reading, writing and oral comprehension intended to help you develop further towards a secure use of English in the public and professional world, and gain confidence to be a role model for your future students.

Informal spoken English is a genre of discourse used in everyday situations and is critical for social bonding, cooperative learning, interpreting literature, information processing etc. The autumn course, Informal Spoken English, presents activities for listening, speaking and analysis of speech. You will improve your knowledge of idiomatic English and phrasal verbs, which will help you to incorporate more native-like colloquial phrases into your everyday speech.

    Objectifs de formation

    Learning Outcomes:

    • Identify and practice linguistic features of natural spoken English
    • Improve  English listening comprehension ability and listenership  (listenership = body movement, eye contact, short acknowledging phrases like uh uh)
    • Reflect on and refine personal learning strategies with regard to natural spoken English
    • Understand and use idiomatic English and phrasal verbs
    • Expand conversational strategies for social situations ex: interrupting, agreeing/disagreeing, questioning, expressing doubt
