    Description

    LIMITED TO 20 STUDENTS.

    Seminar course outline with the University of Oregon USA. Online course.

    Class format:

    • 30-40 min lecture
    • 10-15 min collaborative quiz in breakout rooms
    • ~5-10 min break
    • 15 min collaborative student presentation
    • ~10 min discussion/Q&A about student presentation

    Task/Assignment ideas:

    • Each week 1 group of students is responsible for coming up w/questions that best cover what’s important for that week’s topic. Question are submitted ahead of time before the class so other students can research answers (these can also be the questions that are in the quiz); class discussion around these questions
    • Brief Weekly quiz at the start of class, could be completed collaboratively in group/breakout rooms, and could include 1-2 questions about Oregon/Fribourg just to break the ice
    • Weekly Group presentation of papers (short 15 min presentation) including background/methods/results/discussion (~6 presentations x 4-5 students in each)
    • Posting reactions/questions to the readings online before class (individual assignment)

    Class Components:

    • Participation: coming to class, breakout discussions, asking questions, etc.
    • 1 unexcused absence allowed
    • Points for Breakout room quizzes (maybe at times prompting for personal experience/examples but not sure if this is appropriate or can be managed appropriately)
    • Presentations (starting week 3) - assign them to a week (mixed groups), meet and propose a paper to present/will need to be approved first
    • Forum questions/discussion points
