Intellectual Property & Contracts
The Technology and Knowledge Transfer Service - Industrial Relations (KTT-IR) advises researchers on the implementation of research results and the negotiation of research contracts.
It is important to contact the KTT-IR department as soon as you begin to interact with the industry in order to enable the agreements to be concluded effectively and to maximize the chances of success of the future project.
The service benefits from the skills of a lawyer specialized in intellectual property and contract law. KTT-IR negotiates and collaborates with the university's legal department as required.

Intellectual Property
Inventions created by researchers or inventions to which they have contributed in the course of their activity at the University belong to the employer, namely the University of Fribourg (CO Art. 332).
The KTT-IR service evaluates, manages and protects the University's intellectual property. It puts in place measures to defend and promote intellectual property and share benefits with researchers.
Intellectual property includes, in particular, copyrights, inventions, models, methods and all other creations of an intellectual nature, the protection of which is mainly regulated by law. It should be noted that know-how is not a matter of intellectual property.
