Biographie

I am a PhD student in Human Geography at the Department of Geosciences. My current research project is part of the SNF project "Nuclear Strata: The Political Geology of Nuclear Waste Governance (NUCSTRAT)" led by Dr. Rony Emenegger that looks at the geological dimensions of nuclear waste governance. Drawing on my background in anthropology, I use social science research methods and theories to examine nuclear waste governance in Sweden.

My research interests are at the intersection of environmental anthropology, political geology, political geography, and science and technology studies. I am interested in understanding how the subterreanean, its materiality and temporality, becomes socially and politically significant at the surface. I have conducted ethnographic research in Östhammar municipality, Sweden. In my PhD dissertation, I focus on the construction of a deep geological repository for nuclear waste deep down in bedrock and how it affects political dynamics, social identities, and imagined futures within the host communtiy.

As part of my research methodology, I also use observational and participatory drawings as a way to both investigate and visually represent human-subterreanean relations.
