Physics in Fribourg

Physics is one of the most fundamental disciplines in the natural sciences. Its main goal is to understand how nature behaves on all length scales, from the very big (the universe) to the very small (fundamental particles).

Because of the basic role it plays in essentially all natural phenomena, physics intersects with many other disciplines, including chemistry, biology, geosciences, medicine and engineering.

Researchers in the Department of Physics at the University of Fribourg investigate diverse areas of physics, but with emphasis on condensed matter. The international character of our research and collaborators, as well as the human scale size of the department makes the Physics Department a top quality-working environment for students, researchers and staff. Excellent research facilities and expertise enable us to provide an efficient and enjoyable teaching environment at the bachelor, master and doctorate level.

Join us!  We are looking forward to exploring the world of physics with you.
