Action Plan for Early-Career Researchers

With its action plan, the University of Fribourg is working to sustainably improve the working and career conditions for postdoctoral researchers.

The University of Freiburg has developed an action plan for the postdoctoral phase to improve the research and working conditions of postdoctoral researchers. The university has received financial support from swissuniversities as part of the Federal Project-Based Contributions to cover a portion of the action plan’s costs.

The measures will be implemented from 2025 to 2027 and cover the following areas:

• Goal 1: Establish a central point of contact for postdocs within the Research Promotion Service that offers onboarding, professional development, events, and career support.
• Goal 2: Conduct a legal analysis of the employment and working conditions of postdocs and develop proposals for improvement in collaboration with the relevant university departments and faculties.
• Goal 3: Provide support and professional development for professors, particularly through training in leadership and mentoring.
• Goal 4: Establish a national postdoc network in collaboration with other Swiss universities.
