Career Coaching
Individual support during the postdoctoral phase.
Researchers in the postdoc phase can take advantage of individual coaching if they would like support with career-related issues. The Graduate Campus covers a large portion of the costs for the coaching sessions.
Eligibility Criteria
Postdocs can register for coaching if they meet the following criteria:
- Fixed-term employment at the University of Freiburg during the postdoc phase. A postdoc is defined as someone who holds a doctoral degree, is engaged in research and/or teaching, and has a fixed-term employment contract.
- A coaching topic related to academic career development or professional reorientation
- Willingness to participate in a preliminary meeting with the coordinator of the Graduate Campus Postdoc
- Fee of CHF 100

When might coaching be helpful?
The postdoc phase can be challenging. Especially during demanding periods, when facing uncertainties, or when you have questions about your professional future, coaching can help you develop new perspectives.

What does coaching offer—and what doesn’t it offer?
Coaching helps you reflect on your current situation, strengthen your own resources, and develop appropriate solutions to personal challenges. However, it does not offer ready-made solutions or subject-specific advice. Coaching is not a substitute for psychotherapeutic or psychiatric support.

General Information
- The Graduate Campus funds two to four coaching sessions over a period of up to six months.
- Since available funds are limited, sessions are allocated based on the suitability of the issue and in the order in which requests are received.
- The Graduate Campus has contacts with coaches and assists researchers in finding a suitable professional.
