Even though you will spend many hours working alone on your research project during your PhD studies, networking is the key during your doctorate and especially important with regard to your further career. The university, the faculties and intra-university offers provide you with a variety of networking opportunities, both in professional exchange and at social events.

CSWM

The CSWM is the association of the scientific staff of the University of Fribourg. It represents their professional and scientific interests towards the political authorities and the public.

This is an information event for all new (or not-so-new) PhD students, where all the university's departments introduce themselves and at which contacts can be made afterwards over drinks.

My thesis in 180 seconds

The competition "Ma thèse en 180 secondes" offers PhD students the opportunity to present their research topic in simple terms to a diverse lay audience.

Each candidate must deliver a clear, concise yet convincing account of their research project for a duration of three minutes.

The competition offers participants an opportunity to improve their communication skills, while giving them the chance to present their research in a public space, as the performances will be filmed and published on the website. The requested language of presentation is French.

Science Slam

Aspiring and established scientists venture into the limelight and present a scientific topic in a different way. A science slam is short, exciting and entertaining. The audience chooses the winner. The main trophy is CHF 1,000.
