Bestselling author Helen Macdonald (“H is for Hawk,” adapted for cinemas in 2026) is coming to Fribourg: On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., Helen Macdonald will join environmental philosopher Anna Deplazes Zemp (University of Zurich) for a discussion at the Korso Cinema. The discussion will be moderated by Claudia Keller (this institute). The conversation will focus on Macdonald’s current research on the Midway Atoll, so-called “invasive species,” plastic pollution, and resistance, as well as the question of how our relationship to the non-human world shapes our sense of belonging in times of political and ecological crises. The event will be held in English; further information is available at https://www.korso.ch/conversation-helen-macdonald/.
