Completed doctoral thesis: Hanna Schübel on the ethics of CDR

Last Friday, 15.03.2024, Hanna Schübel was the first to complete her doctorate at the Environmental Science and Humanities Institute of the University of Fribourg after successfully defending her thesis in public. In her research, she worked out what responsibility various actors - namely individuals, states, and corporations - should take in order to reduce their emissions with the help of so-called Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies (CDR). It thus makes an important contribution to answering the question of how the use of technologies to achieve international climate targets can be designed fairly.

The team at the Environmental Science and Humanities Institute would like to thank Hanna Schübel for her extraordinary commitment over the last few years. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors and look forward to working with her in the future.
