Biography

Dr. Nika Chitishvili is a visiting postdoctoral researcher at the Environmental Sciences and Humanities Institute (ESH Institute) of the University of Fribourg. He holds a PhD in Economics from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, where his doctoral research focused on economic security policy. His research interests include energy and environmental policy, energy justice and energy poverty, circular economy, waste-to-energy, sustainable transitions, and environmental governance.

His international academic experience includes research training at TU Berlin during his master’s studies and postgraduate studies in Environmental Management at TU Dresden through the CIPSEM programme.

Dr. Chitishvili is also an Affiliated Assistant Professor at Caucasus University. His teaching includes Managerial Economics at the master’s level, as well as Circular Economy and Agricultural Economics at the bachelor’s level.

Alongside his academic work, he serves as a Project Manager at Policy and Management Consulting Group - PMCG, where he manages international development and consulting projects in energy, renewable energy, hydrogen and battery energy storage, energy efficiency, waste management and circular economy, environmental and social safeguards, and sustainable infrastructure.

His professional experience covers projects in Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. He has worked on assignments supported by international financial institutions and development organisations including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, KfW, UNDP, UNIDO, and other international partners.
