Lara Elborno is Counsel in the International Arbitration practice of DLA Piper France LLP based in Paris. She is admitted to practice in France and Illinois and has more than twelve years of experience representing states, state-owned entities, international organizations, and private parties in complex international commercial and investment treaty disputes. Her experience spans proceedings under the ICSID, ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, PCA, SIAC, and OIC rules.

Lara has acted as counsel in investor-state disputes involving sectors including mining, telecommunications, transportation, pharmaceuticals, energy, and infrastructure. She has also served as tribunal secretary in ICC proceedings and has experience in post-award enforcement and annulment litigation.

In addition to her arbitration practice, Lara recently completed a seven-month secondment to the Legal Affairs Service of UNHCR in Geneva, where she advised on legal issues relating to the organization's operations in more than 100 countries. She also taught constitutional law at Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas and regularly contributes to pro-bono work in the field of international human rights and refugee rights.

Lara holds a J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law with a certificate in international law, an LL.M. in European Law from Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas, and a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in French, and Arabic Studies from the University of Iowa. She is fluent in English, French, and Arabic.
