This workshop reviews the requirements and expectations associated with pursuing an academic career as a professor. It is intended for researchers in all disciplines, currently holding a position at the postdoctoral level.
Based on in-depth discussions and practical exercises, the programme includes an overview of professorial roles and the competencies required to fulfil them, and covers the fundamental principles of the recruitment processes for professorships, from the application to the interviews.
Discussions will address the challenges of the postdoctoral phase, what a hiring committee looks for when recruiting for a professor position, and the various documents that typically make up an application file, with a particular focus on the academic CV.

By the end of this workshop, participants will have :
• Developed their knowledge of the recruiting processes for professorships
• Improved their ability to describe and categorise their experience and achievements in academic research and teaching
• Acquired the basic principles of self-presentation in an academic CV
• Reflected on their professional development within the perspective of an academic career.

Preparatory work : Participants are asked to read short preliminary articles on the academic recruiting process. A list of reading material will be provided prior to the start date. Participants are also required to prepare/revise their academic CV in advance. They will share their CV for review in small groups during the workshop.
Language : The workshop is led in English. Participants are free to express themselves in English or French according to their preference. CVs can be written in English or French.
