    Grants aimed at excellent female researchers who aspire to a professorship in Switzerland.

    Aimed at researchers who want to host scientific conferences or workshops in Switzerland, invite colleagues from abroad for a research visit to Switzerland, or visit their colleagues in another country for a period of 1 to 6 months.

    Research stay abroad for PhD candidates active in SNSF projects.

    Marie-Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships
    For young researchers moving from one EU member state or
    associated country to another (European Fellowship) or moving to a third country outside of Europe with a subsequent mandatory return phase (Global Fellowhip).


    Scholarships for foreign students offered by the University of Fribourg
    Short term scholarships at the PhD and post-PhD level.


    Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for researchers from abroad
    Various postgraduate scholarships awarded by the Swiss government.


    Grants by the European Research Council (ERC)
    ERC grants are open for researchers of any nationality and age who want to carry out frontier research in the EU or an associated county. Starting Grants are for 2-7 years post-PhD experience, Consolidator Grants are for 7-12 years post-PhD experience and  Advanced Grants are for established researchers.

    European Commission (EC)

    Research and development projects, infrastructure and career development across broad fields. Since January 1,  2014 the new EU Framework Programme Horizon 2020 (2014-2020) is funding instruments like the Marie-Curie Actions, the European Research Council (ERC) and the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN). Projects of the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) are still ongoing.

    Eurostars

    SMEs, which devote over 10% of their turnover to R&D activities, can work with European research teams through Eurostars and improve their competitive capacity in the field of knowledge and innovation. SME and Universities are financed 50%.
