The "Communion of Protestant Churches in Europe" as a protestant model of unity


On 8 March 2021, 15-17h, Rev. Dr Mario Fischer, General Secretary of the "Communion of Protestant Churches in Europe" (CPCE) will present the history, mission and development perspectives of CPCE in a lecture via Zoom.

Rev. Dr Mario Fischer, born in 1976, is General Secretary of the Communion of Protestant Churches in Europe (CPCE) and pastor of the Protestant Church in Hesse and Nassau. He studied theology, philosophy and ecumenism in Mainz, Marburg, Rome and Munich, where he finished his doctorate with a thesis on Heidegger's philosophy of religion. After several years as a parish priest, he works in the CPCE office in Vienna since 2015. At the eighth CPCE General Assembly in Basel 2018 he was appointed CPCE General Secretary. Fischer is editor of the series "Leuenberger Texte" and on the editorial board of the yearbook "Die evangelische Diaspora". He was a lecturer at the universities of Frankfurt a.M. and Hermannstadt/Sibiu in Romania.
