Essentials

University degree Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) Leadership and Human Resource Management
Faculty/University Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences, University of Fribourg
Prerequisite/Admission Bachelor or Master degree from a University or University of Applied Sciences or other diploma recognized as equivalent and three to five years’ work experience. Admission is given “sur dossier”. In justified cases, the study management can admit people who do not or only partially meet individual admission requirements.

Content

The CAS Leadership and Human Resource Management consists of 4 three days modules in Fribourg near the train station and a CAS thesis.

 

  • Managing yourself

     Prof. Dr. Kerstin Alfes

    This module is designed to empower individuals with the essential skills and insights needed for personal growth and effective self-management. At its core, this module aims to cultivate a deeper understanding of oneself, including recognizing personal strengths, weaknesses, and individual patterns of behavior. Participants will learn practical strategies for setting and achieving personal goals, enhancing emotional intelligence, and developing resilience in the face of challenges.

  • Leading team

     Prof. Dr. Amanda Shantz

    This module delves into the dynamics of team leadership, offering comprehensive strategies for building, motivating, and guiding diverse teams towar achieving collective goals. Participants will understand their leadership approach and preferences and discuss the strengths and potential limitations associated with their style of leading others.  We will explore key topics such as communication skills, conflict resolution, and the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership. The module also addresses the challenges of remote and cross-cultural team management in today’s globalized workplace.

  • Implementing HR practices

    This module focuses on the critical role that managers play in implementing HR practices within their teams, bridging the gap between HR policies and day-to-day team management. Key areas of focus include understanding effective recruitment and retention strategies, performance management systems, and employee development.   • Leading an inclusive way

Key topics include recognizing and mitigating unconscious bias, enhancing cultural competency, and implementing inclusive communication techniques.
