Proof of language proficiency for studies
Are you preparing for an exchange stay or a change of university? If your exchange university requires proof of language skills, please enquire which certificates are recognised. Some institutions accept, or even require, an official letter from the student's home university instead of an exam certificate. If you wish to obtain an official letter that details your language proficiency you should contact the Language Centre by following these steps:
1. Submitting a request
Submit your request at least 2 weeks before the letter is required. Use the contact form by clicking on the green button below. An administrative fee of CHF 25.00 must be paid online when completing the contact form.
2. Online Placement Test
The Language Centre will then set you up with a link to the online test. You can take this test on your own computer at a time of your choosing. You must complete the online test at least 2 working days before the oral interview.
3. Online Interview
Once you have completed the test, an oral interview will be arranged via Teams. The Language Centre will contact you with instructions on the date and time.
4. Issue of the letter
A signed and stamped letter will be provided within 3 days of all the above stages being completed. Please note that the level and wording of the final letter is at the sole discretion of the Language Centre and that this letter is not equivalent to a language certificate.
