B2-C1 English for Economics & Business is a course for students who would like to improve their understanding of the typical language structures and high frequency vocabulary used in economics and business. It is a highly interactive and communicative programme that leverages the knowledge and experience of all the participants. 

Course contents and teaching method

This is a blended course that combines face-to-face classroom teaching with online materials. Participants are only required to attend in-person classes every other week. The final timetable is confirmed in week 3 of the course depending on the make up of the group. 

The in-person classes are highly interactive and focus on productive skills (speaking and writing), while the online materials are more focussed on receptive skills (critical reading and listening). Subject specific language structures and vocabulary are integrated throughout the course. 

Workload and evaluation
Regular attendance and active participation is required to pass this course, as is the successful completion of all 4 formal assignments (there is no final exam).

• Speaking 1: Individual presentation on a mutually agreed topic (10mins)
• Speaking 2: Group presentation on a mutually agreed topic (15mins) 
• Writing 1: presenting and/or decribing results (approx. 250 words)
• Writing 2: a business report (approx. 250 words)

Handouts are provided and all materials the materials are available on Moodle.

Schreiben Sie sich nur ein, wenn der Kurs Ihrem Niveau entspricht. Teilnehmende unserer Partnerinstitutionen und Unifr-Mitarbeitende können uns für den Einstufungstest kontaktieren, wenn sie betreffend ihres Niveaus unsicher sind.
