    Description

This seminar provides an introduction to the neural basis of musical perception and processing. It focuses on how the brain processes musical stimuli and the resulting complex experiences, such as emotion, meaning and motivation.

It examines the fundamental mechanisms of auditory perception, including harmony, pitch and rhythm. Particular attention is given to the neural networks underlying the processing of music. Building on this foundation, the seminar then looks at topics such as how the brain detects musical patterns, forms expectations and generates predictions. It also addresses individual differences in music perception in relation to musical expertise. Additionally, the seminar highlights practical applications in therapy, rehabilitation, education and performance.
