    Description

    This course aims to:

    1. Present the symptomatology, etiology, epidemiology, and the typical progression and prognosis of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
    2. Understand the basic cognitive processes affected by ADHD and their neural correlates.
    3. Familiarize students with contemporary theoretical models of ADHD functioning.

We will focus on cognitive functioning and the neural correlates of symptoms associated with this disorder. Practical aspects related to the assessment, diagnosis, or management of ADHD will not be covered.

By the end of the course, students are expected to understand ADHD functioning through the lenses of the theoretical models presented and recognize the impact of this disorder on the cognitive development of affected children and adolescents.

Students will be assessed via an MCQ exam (multiple-choice questions).

    Training objectives

At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to identify the main psychiatric disorders causing school difficulties and to appraise evidence-based interventions targeting those difficulties.
