This advanced master seminar offers a hands-on approach and exercise on reading and evaluation of empirical studies in the field of cognitive neuroscience. The focus will be on studies in the field of sleep, dreams, relaxation, mindfulness and related areas. Participants will read multiple scientific papers throughout the course, summarize them in a written form and generate method-critical comments. The papers will be presented in the course and discussed based on the comments. The aim of the course is to strengthen the scientific reading skills of the students and enable them to judge the scientific quality of empirical studies in the field of cognitive neuroscience, particularly from a methods perspective. These skills will allow students to acquire knowledge necessary for a future career in academia. PhD Students will be able to access the course when sufficient places are available. The evaluation of the students is based on active participation, oral presentations and their written summarizes and comments. The course is taught in presence. |
