    Description

How do the earliest biological signals between mother and fetus shape brain and behavior across generations? And how can we translate such questions into meaningful, fundable research?

This course offers hands-on training in grant designing within developmental science, with a specific focus on the neuro-bio-psychology of mother-fetus communication. Students will work in teams to develop a short (interdisciplinary) research grant proposal (4–5 pages), sharpening their skills in scientific planning, teamwork, and persuasive communication.

Guided by brief input sessions, students will engage in conceptual design, literature review, project management, budgeting, and pitching their ideas. The emphasis lies on embedding novel neuroscientific ideas into a clear, impactful, and feasible research context. Students will gain insights into the logic and structure of grant writing, the art of storytelling in science, and the dynamics of successful collaboration.

By the end of the course, students will understand the fundamentals of mini-grant development and how to communicate complex ideas with clarity and relevance.

Evaluation: Graded. The final grade is based upon group projects including one written short research grant (4–5 pages) and interaction in group discussions.
