Description The question about motivations for antisocial behavior is on news front pages almost every day, but the psychological and physiological underpinnings are as diverse as antisocial behavior can be. This seminar will put neural correlates of antisocial behavior in the center of several mini lectures and student presentations, including psychopathic personality as one of the risk factors for intense criminal behavior. We will answer questions about how structural and functional brain findings link to behavior and what implications those findings have for the development of treatment interventions. The 2-day seminar will comprise an introductory lecture, a series of student presentations, as well as group work and discussions.
Details on course assessment:
- During the course you will prepare two presentations in groups.
- Some relevant research papers will be provided, but the aim is to do further literature search together to support your arguments and proposals in those presentations.
- Individual assessments are based on students’ presentations as well as active participation throughout the 2-day course
- Students can get in touch with the course coordinator via email: hedwig.eisenbarth@vuw.ac.nz
