EduKIA
The rise of generative AI is transforming higher education. The EduKIA (2025-2026) project, led by the University of Fribourg and the HES-SO, supports teachers and students in their pedagogical integration through targeted actions aimed at strengthening skills in AI literacy and digital instructional design. This project is funded by swissuniversities, as part of the PgB Open Education & Digital Competencies program.
Objectives:
- Analyze current uses via a survey and exchanges
- Define key AI skills for teaching and learning
- Train teachers and students in the pedagogical uses of AI and develop skills in computational thinking
- Raise awareness of the ethical, environmental and security issues linked to AI
The project's objectives will be achieved through specific training, adapted resources and a regional event to promote the sharing of knowledge and good practice.
Some of the actions proposed as part of the EduKIA project stem from work carried out during the DigitalSkills@Fribourg project (2021-2024).
Survey on AI Usage
The survey on the use of generative AI among students and teaching staff at HES-SO and the University of Fribourg was conducted in spring 2025.
The analysed and published results now serve as a basis for guiding the project’s actions.
Regional Event
An event will foster the sharing of knowledge and best practices among the partner institutions: HES-SO, University of Fribourg, University of Geneva, University of Neuchâtel, and University of Lausanne. This event will take place on 19 March 2026 and will focus on the topic of AI in teaching and learning.
