In a complex system many individual elements act based on their information to increase their own interest, without caring about other individuals. This selfish behavior is studied in the limit of scarce information, that is not everything is known to the agents. In this limit we can evaluate the effectiveness of this behavior in different contexts. We can then interpret the results and provide benchmark limits in the behavior of single agents. In the era of digitalization, where every action can be known in real time, this research direction can provide insights on how people interact with each other, and offer possible solutions, as nowadays there is no clear framework to work with. For example, we address the problem of internet polarization, where people tend to interact with people of similar interests, creating a bubble. The main conclusion is that information plays a pivotal role in the interaction between different individuals and cooperation arises when there is scarcity.
