The following points represent the key elements of a successful SAR stay.
  • Scientific compatibility between the Unifr professor and the visiting researcher is of the utmost importance. Scholars can only make the most of their research stay if they can benefit from their hosting professor’s expertise and network.
  • A research stay at the University of Fribourg can only come to fruition if there is sufficient financial support. While Unifr can contribute, it is crucial for the scholar and/or hosting professor to secure an additional source of funding – SNSF grant, teaching assignment, scholarship, etc.
  • A 12-month research stay goes by quickly. Scholars are encouraged to look for follow-up opportunities as early in the process as possible.
