Scholars at Risk
The University of Fribourg joined the Scholars at Risk network in 2014. As a member of this network, Unifr is dedicated to protecting researchers under threat and promoting academic freedom.
The purpose of Scholars at Risk (SAR) is to offer threatened researchers temporary academic positions in a safe environment to allow them to pursue their scientific work, expand their network, and achieve academic independence until the situation in their home country is stable enough for them to return.
The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) collaborates with SAR and offers a limited number of grants to at-risk scholars to support their research project within a Swiss research institution.
