Three generations of UNIFR Early Modern professors meet!

Last week, on the occasion of a Doctoral Workshop in Medieval and Early Modern English Studies held at the University of Geneva, our own Emerita Professor Indira Ghose gave a lecture entitled “Wit, Jesting, and Civility”. This was also a very nice occasion for three generations of UNIFR Early Modern Literature professors to meet (see picture, from left to right: Dr. Kilian Schindler, Prof. Anthony Mortimer, Prof. Indira Ghose). In the context of the recent appointment of Dr. Schindler as Assistant Professor at our Department, we were very happy to see that the continuity of Early Modern studies at UNIFR is assured.

Prof. Ghose will be back to Switzerland soon, as she is giving a keynote lecture on Saturday 27 May at the conference “The Uses and Abuses of Civility, 1500-1700” (University of Neuchâtel). This conference is directly related to Prof. Ghose last SNF project, a collaboration between UNIFR and UNINE, that she continues to co-manage (see the programme of the conference here).
