On 26.04.2024, Friday, Department of Chemistry inaugurated the new Virtual Reality Classroom. The rector of the University of Fribourg, Prof. Katharina M Fromm , members of university and several press members participated to the event. The participants had the opportunity to test the system personally.

This VR classroom is a room equipped with 20 virtual reality headsets, the first dedicated to the teaching of chemistry in Switzerland. Students will be able to directly manipulate molecules in three dimensions, which will allow them to see their chemical structure in detail, an operation that is simply not possible with traditional two-dimensional media. This technology will allow them to acquire the fundamental concepts of chemistry in an attractive and interactive way.
