Écoles d'été
L'Unité d'anthropologie sociale organise régulièrement des écoles d'été, en Suisse comme à l'étranger. Ces écoles d'été ont pour but de mettre en pratique les acquis méthodologiques et théoriques des étudiant.e.s en faisant des recherches de terrain sur des thèmes variés.
INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL IN SOCIAL ANTHROPOLOGY initiated, coordinated, and organized since 2012 by Dr. Andrea Boscoboinik (UniFR) and Dr. Melinda Dincă (UVT) in the frame of the Inter-University Convention 80099/10.07.2000 between Fribourg University (UniFR) and the West University of Timișoara (UVT).
In Switzerland:
2024 – 9th Edition – Cohabitation with the Other-Than-Human Entities: Exploring Human-Wildness Interactions.
This Summer school is focused on the exploration of cohabitation between humans and other-than-human entities through the lens of social anthropology, with a particular emphasis on using ethnography as a research method. It seeks to offer participants an interdisciplinary experience in understanding the complex relationships between humans and various non-human entities in the Swiss Alps.
It is open to BA and MA students of Social Anthropology from the University of Fribourg, West University of Timişoara, Romania, and Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway. It will take place from 9 to 16 June 2024.

In Romania:
2024 – 10th Edition – Urban anthropology: Exploring Timisoara.
This summer school includes field visits to different living areas of Timisoara and cultural points of interest, where students document and collect information through visual research instruments and participatory observation for their team-based projects (observation grid, transect walks, social resources map, cultural resources map, documentary photos). 1– 5 July 2024.

2023 (8th edition) - The polycentric city of the 2023 European Capital of Culture Timisoara.
24 students and 7 teachers from UVT, UniFR, NTNU, field research in the historic neighborhoods and cultural heritage sites of the city of Timisoara, and lectures at the West University of Timișoara, Timișoara, Romania, 19-30 June 2023.
