The Orthodox Faculty of Theology in Sofia has the task of articulating itself in a society in which there has been no "religious flourishing" after the end of communism as in other Eastern European countries. It is characterised by a strong philosophical, social-ethical and religious-educational orientation. Several joint conferences have taken place with colleagues from Sofia, partly in cooperation with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Katholische Sozialwissenschaftliche Arbeitsstelle Mönchengladbach. A study trip to Sofia is planned for November 2018 as part of the doctoral programme DE CIVITATE HOMINIS.
