We are delighted to inform that Ms Ora Hazak joined our team on 1 July 2024.

Dr. Ora Hazak is a plant molecular biologist and a Group Leader at the Department of Biology, University of Fribourg. 

In 2019, Ora was awarded the Ambizione SNSF and the COST SNSF grants to study plant root growth and stress adaptation and she established her independent research group at our University. 

Dr. Hazak studied biology at the Bachelor level, and Plant Molecular Biology at the MSc and PhD levels at the Tel Aviv University (Israel), followed by a postdoc training on root development at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland).

Her research aims to understand signaling mechanisms that shape plant vascular tissues and maintain long-distance communication. The idea is to use this new knowledge to design resilient crops, that are more productive and more tolerant to abiotic stresses.
