Just published: new co-authored book by Dr. Oswald on language and persuasion
Steve Oswald has just published a co-authored book with colleagues Sandrine Zufferey (UNIBE) and Pascal Gygax (UNIFR), titled Quand dire, c'est influencer. Psychologie de la persuasion (Editions Sciences Humaines).
This book, written in French, is meant (though not exclusively) to reach non-academic audiences, and presents a wealth of (psycho)linguistic research on the influence that our linguistic choices have on the representations our audiences might form based on them. In other words, it builds bridges between linguistics and psychology to explain language-based mechanisms of persuasion, which are illustrated through numerous real-life examples from political, media, and advertising discourse.
The book is available for purchase through the publisher's website or in the usual (online) bookstores.
