Shiatsu is a manual technique originating in Japan and inspired by Chinese medicine. It acts on the body, mind and spirit and places the overall recovery of the human being at the heart of the approach.

What is shiatsu?
"Shi-atsu" literally means "thumb pressure". It is a manual technique very popular in Japan, which involves applying pressure with the fingers, palms and sometimes the elbows or knees to specific areas of the body, using the force of gravity.

Treatement
These areas are the meridians (known from acupuncture): they correspond to the pathways of Ki (which can be translated as ‘life force’, “energy” or ‘breath’ animating every being) and constitute a link between the surface of the body and the deep organs. Shiatsu mobilises and promotes the harmonious circulation of ‘Ki’. The treatment also includes gentle stretching and joint mobilisation. It allows the person to identify their resources, strengthen them and integrate the experience of the treatment into their daily life.

Outfit
Shiatsu treatments are carried out in individual sessions lasting approximately 1 hour. The client lies down on a futon and remains fully clothed, preferably in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, such as cotton. It is a good idea to wear long sleeves and socks, as relaxation can cause a feeling of cold.
