Lina Molokotos-Liederman holds a PhD in sociology of religion from the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (EPHE, Paris). Having lived and worked in London for 20 years, she is also an Affiliated Researcher at the Woolf Institute, Cambridge, UK.

Her current research interests focus on humour and culture, more particularly on humour and religion: the connections between humour, comedy and interfaith engagement; and the work and experiences of Muslim stand-up comedians. She is co-founder of the Humour and Religion Network.

Between 2018 and 2020 she was a Research Fellow for the AHRC-funded project on “Modest Fashion in UK Women's Working Life” (2018-2020) at the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts (UAL), where she also worked on "Faith & Fashion" (2015-2017).

She served as Editorial Manager of Religion, State & Society journal (Routledge) for three years (2016-2019), working in collaboration with faculty members from the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at King’s College London.

She has worked as a project-based researcher for various organisations including among others: Uppsala Religion and Society Research Centre (CRS), Uppsala University; and Centre for European Studies, University of Exeter. She has co-edited three academic volumes, including Religion and Welfare in Europe (Policy Press, 2017), and published book chapters and peer reviewed articles in French and English on a range of topics in sociology of religion.
