Strengthening Interoperability and Collaboration in UN Humanitarian Supply Chains
This study funded by HELP Logistics explores how UN agencies can improve supply chain collaboration to reduce costs and increase efficiency in humanitarian operations. Drawing on a review of major collaboration initiatives and interviews with senior supply chain leaders, it finds that the biggest barriers are institutional rather than technical. Mutual trust, leadership commitment, and aligned incentives are critical to progress, while procurement, transportation, and data management offer the greatest potential for interoperability. The study recommends strengthening existing collaboration mechanisms to build a more coordinated and effective humanitarian supply chain system.
