Libraries
The Cantonal and University Library of Fribourg comprises15 branch libraries located throughout the university and a central library, which houses, among other things, the university's collections for languages, literature, and musicology. In addition to countless documents, our libraries offer quiet study spaces and access to special online resources.

To find scientific information, the libraries of the University of Freiburg provide a range of specialized resources. These include the library catalog swisscovery Freiburg and more than 400 databases, some of which are only accessible to university members. Subject-specific pages make it easier for you to begin your subject-specific research.

Effective use of scientific information includes literature management. University libraries recommend using the free, open-source software Zotero . You can acquire the necessary Zotero skills in some of our courses.

Information literacy: Courses
The libraries of the University of Freiburg promote and support you in efficiently searching for and evaluating scientific information, as well as in using it effectively in situations involving knowledge acquisition, problem-solving, and decision-making. The corresponding courses are mandatory for many degree programs . Registration is via the course portal on the library website or via myunifr.ch.

Generative AI
As a member of the University of Freiburg, you have access to selected AI tools. The IT Services department provides an overview of the topic. The specific opportunities and limitations of AI tools for your research are covered in the mandatory information literacy courses.
