Lucien Delley
Biography
Social worker and sociologist, holding a PhD in Architecture and the Sciences of the City from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). My work focuses on the analysis of urban spaces, professional practices, and public policies. For about a decade, my ethnographic research has explored the relationships between (in)security, space, and society. From a qualitative and critical perspective, I seek to better understand the dynamics of inclusion and exclusion at play in contemporary societies. My more recent interests concern urban and digital spaces within neighborhood communities. Alongside my academic work, I have held various professional positions, notably at the Montreux Jazz Festival (as Security Coordinator) and at the City of Lausanne (as Head of Urban Mediation, Safety and Security). I also teach urban sociology at the master’s level at EPFL, speak regularly in public, and write (columns, fiction, and poetry).
