The Association for the Protection of the Writings of the '7 de l'Atlas' has committed itself since 2017 to an editorial initiative that seeks to present a pedagogical entrée to the spiritual treasure found in the writings of the monks of Tibhirine. The association aims to publish the totality of the monks' writings in the form of thematic anthologies that are accessible to a general audience. At the same time, the association aims to publish writings in a literary genre destined for a more speicalized audience.

The basic purpose of this initiative is to offer both to the general public as well as to scholars the material needed to stimulate further research, whether it be of a personal or scientific nature. By this initiative the Association seeks to tell the story of spiritual growth evidenced in the individual and communal lives of the monks. The Association hopes that the dynamism of these initiatives will animate the Association and help it discover insights beneficial to the life of Church today. The Association hopes to have finished the publication of these works in time for the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the monks' death (2026).

The first volume was published August 24th, 2018. It gathers and presents the 'vocational' texts of the seven monks. Using their own texts (personal journals, letters, spiritual notes, homilies, testimonies, articles, etc...), the volume presents a comprehensive sketch of the monks' respective spritiual journeys. In this sketch one sees the genesis and maturation of a community, a journey that leads to the kind of communal witness lauded by Pope Francis in his exhortation "Gaudete et exsultate" (#141):

"We should also remember the more recent witness borne by the Trappists of Tibhirine, Algeria, who prepared as a community for martyrdom."

The monks' grou pletters (1987 - 1995) have also been collected. This first volume opens wide the doors to this spiritual treasure.
