Study programme

You are free to establish your own study programme according to the requirements of your home university, withholding certain exceptions. You can choose to take classes among the five faculties: Humanities, Law, Social and Economic Sciences, Theology, and the Sciences.

IF you are an ERASMUS student, it is very important to respect your study contract and to contact your home university if there is a change in order to not have any difficulties when the time comes to recognize your studies.

The ECTS "European Credit Transfer System" is in use at all five faculties of the University of Fribourg. The normal programme for a student at the University of Fribourg comprises of 30 ECTS credits per semester. The University of Fribourg has no requirements to obtain a minimum of those credits.

Acceptance to the University of Fribourg allows every exchange student (non degree seeking) to register and follow courses in other faculties or departments (withholding certain exceptions).

For any questions regarding the study programme, please contact the study coordinator at the faculties or the IRO (International Relations Office) which will direct you to the proper person. Scholarship students doing research work should contact their study tutor.
