Guest Student (non degree seeking student)
You wish to participate in an exchange program for one or two semesters at the University of Fribourg.
Erasmus
Students originally from a European university who fall under the framework of the bilateral agreement ERASMUS. Please contact the relative service responsable for this program in your home university. Students must be announced to the IRO of the University of Fribourg by their home university.
ISEP
Students issued from a university affiliated to the International Student Exchange Program and who get the ISEP grant. Please contact the relative service responsable for this program in your home university. Students must be announced to the IRO of the University of Fribourg by their home university. They must present themselves to the IRO upon their arrival to receive the relevant information.
CREPUQ
Students issued from a university affiliated to the programs at the Quebec universities. Please contact the relative service responsable for this program in your home university. Students must be announced to the IRO of the University of Fribourg by their home univesity. Students are exempt from paying the university taxes but do not receive a grant.
Bilateral Agreement framework
Students coming from a university that has signed a specific exchange program agreement. Please contact the relative service responsable for this program in your home university. Students must be announced to the IRO of the University of Fribourg by their home university. Students are exempt from paying the university taxes but do not receive a grant.
Swiss Mobility
Students issued from one of the 12 Swiss universities who enter in the framework of the convention of Swiss Mobility. Please contact the relative service responsible for this program in your home university. Students must be announced to the IRO of the University of Fribourg by their home university. Students are exempt from paying the university taxes but do not receive a grant.
Freemover
Students who have themselves organized an exchange with the University of Fribourg outside of a program or bilateral convention. The University of Fribourg accepts a limited number of guest-students (non degree seeking students) in this case. The candidates must send their admissions request to the IRO, University of Fribourg, Av. de l'Europe 20, CH-1700 or by email to international-incoming@unifr.ch. This request must be accompanied by a letter from the home university authorizing the student to study at the University of Fribourg as a guest student (non degree seeking student).
BENEFRI
Students studying at the universities of Neuchâtel and Bern wishing to follow courses at the university of Fribourg, please see the site: www.unifr.ch/benefri.
The IRO will send the necessary documents to the guest student (non degree seeking student): registration form, linguistic programs and cultural discovery program, intensive language classes, housing, etc. The registration form must be received by us by the 31st of May for the Fall semester and the 31st of October for the Spring semester.

Scholarships of the University of Fribourg
The University of Fribourg offers a limited number of scholarships during the year:
1. Scholarships: Master - Scholarships granted by the Rectorat to foreign Students (living abroad) who would like to undertake their master studies.
Deadline for application: 28 February to start studies in the following academic year

2. Scholarships: Research at PhD Level - Scholarships granted by the Rectorat to foreign Students (living abroad) who would like to undertake a research stay at PhD Level.
Dealine for application: 28 February for a stay during the next autumn semester and 30 September for a stay during the next spring semester.

3. Scholarships: Research at Post-PhD Level - Scholarships granted by the Rectorat to foreign Students (living abroad) who would like to undertake a research stay at Post PhD Level.

Preliminary conditions
To obtain a confirmation of acceptance (attestation d'acceptation/Annahmebescheinigung) for a program or a research group of a professor of the University of Fribourg, the candidate must send a demand to the International Relations Office of the University of Fribourg (in English, French or German).
Only complete demands will be considered. It takes the University of Fribourg approximately 3 weeks to check the application. Candidates will receive a written confirmation which can be included in the application file to present at the Swiss diplomatic representation of his/her country.

- Detailed plan of studies
- Copies of the diplomas (with obtained grades)
- If possible, copy of a scientific work (dissertation, project or articles)
- Confirmation of registration to a doctorate if applicable
