Team Fribourg scores success at the Willem C. Vis Moot Court in Vienna
Congratulations to Fribourg Team for reaching the Octo-Finals and winning the Honorable Mention award in the category "Best Memorandum for Respondent"!
The 31st Willem C. Vis Moot Court, also known as "Olympic Games for law students", was a gerat success for the Fribourg Team. The University of Fribourg was represented by Fabian Widmer, Kseniia Zhyhalova, Yaelle Lohner Hutzli and their Coach Vera Bykova. The Fribourg Team is supervised by Professor Fountoulakis Christiana, Chaire de droit civil I, and coordinated by Graduate Research Assistant, Louis Wéry.
The Awards Ceremony culminated in the following prizes not only for outstanding oral advocacy, but also for exceptional written advocacy skills of the team:
- Oral advocacy (Preliminary Rounds): Fribourg Team qualified for the Advanced Rounds after 4 challenging days of the competition (10% of the strongest teams out of almost 400 teams from both common and civil law jurisdiction).
- Oral advocacy (Advanced Rounds): Fribourg Team reached the Octo-Finals of the Advanced Rounds (3% of the strongest teams out of 400 teams) (Eric E. Bergsten Award - Honorable Mention).
- Written advocacy: Fribourg Team received the award of Honorable Mention in the category Best Memorandum for Respondent (Werner Melis Award - Honorable Mention).
This success is a testament to the dedication and hundreds of hours of work of the entire team.
