Biography

Dominique Wirz is an SNSF Ambizione Fellow and Senior Teaching Associate at the University of Fribourg. She is the principal investigator in the project "News Consumption und Infotainment on Social Media: Effects of Entertaining Features in Digital News Stories on Exposure, Engagement, Knowledge and Attitudes". She studied Communication in Social and Economic Contexts (B.A.) at the Berlin University of the Arts and Communication Management and Communication Research (M.A.) at the University of Zurich. In 2018 she recieved a PhD from the University of Zurich with a thesis on the effects of populist communication on political attitudes.  Her main research interests are entertainment, infotainment, and emotions in political communication. In 2021, she was a Fulbright visiting scholar at Michigan State University for three months and in 2022 a visiting researcher at the University of Amsterdam (ASCoR) for six months.
