RITTER Christopher

Christopher Ritter has been part of the research group doing his PhD since August 2018, and is working in a large ongoing cohort study centering on epigenetic and imaging in depressed and healthy subjects from the general population. The aim of the study is to identify risk factors and potential protective factors as well as to contribute to possible therapeutical interventions for major depressive disorder. The project combines insights from neurobiological pathways (genetic and epigenetic factors such as BDNF and their impact on neurotransmitter release) with MR imaging techniques (e.g. brain volumes). Data collection is ongoing and a follow-up study is in planning

Field of research:

  • MRI research: arterial spin labelling (ASL)
  • Brain perfusion research
  • Neurotransmitters and their impact on stress-related psychiatric diseases
  • Genetics and epigenetics of depression
  • Sexual dimorphism in stress-related psychiatric diseases
