An international ecumenical online colloquium on Sergii Bulgakov's work "Sophia: The Wisdom of God" took place on 14 and 15 January 2021 as part of the CUSO doctoral programme.
The doctoral colloquium was held on the occasion of the forthcoming publication of the annotated German-Russian edition of Sergii Bulgakov's work "Sophia: The Wisdom of God". The colloquium was organised by Dr. Regula Zwahlen, Prof. Barbara Hallensleben and Prof. Christophe Chalamet. The collaboration took place within the framework of the CUSO doctoral programme between the theological faculties of the universities of Fribourg and Geneva. In addition to the text reading and intensive discussions, the keynote lectures by Roberto De La Noval and Dr Oleg Davydov helped to clarify the current significance of Bulgakov's sophiology.
The colloquium was not least a preparatory step for an international conference on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Sergii Bulgakov's birth, which will be held at the University of Fribourg from 2-4 September 2021 under the honorary presidency of Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury.
