Start-up Grant Application 2025

Financing of research projects aiming at the incorporation of a start-up company or at the development of a young start-up company.

The funds (grants) are to be used for research projects at Unifr aiming at the incorporation of a start-up or the development of a start-up recently incorporated (usually maximum 24 months prior to the application submission deadline).

Start-up project means a 12-month project submitted by candidates within the Start-up Grant Program. The major part of the grant is allocated to the salary of the project leader, who will be employed at Unifr.

Accepted languages: English, French, German.

The selection/evaluation criteria:
a) Innovation degree
b) Economic potential and societal impact
c) Feasibility
d) Quality of project set-up.

The award decision is delivered at the earliest 3 months after the submission deadline. The awarded amount will be available within 30 working days of the notification of the decision. Note that no payment is made to the beneficiary, as all transactions are managed directly by the administrative direction.

Decision will be communicated by mid-March 2026
