Our Practitioners' Course 2023 has begun

The 2023 edition of the Practitioners' Course, organized by the Institute of Federalism, has officially started. This year, the focus is on Federalism, Decentralization and Local Governance. Participants were welcomed on Monday 7 August by the Co-Director of the Institute of Federalism, Professor Eva Maria Belser, the Academic Head of the IRCC, Soeren Keil, and the IRCC team.

We are proud to host 14 participants from 7 different countries. During two weeks of sessions with renowned international lecturers, participants will deepen their knowledge on topics such as federalism and decentralization, power-sharing and local governance in multilevel systems. Participants will also have the opportunity to discover the beautiful town of Murten, the cities of Basel and Fribourg, as well as the Federal Parliament in Bern.

Our Practitioners' Course combines theoretical inputs with practical studies and peer learning. The programme also equips participants with tools and methods to help address questions of fiscal decentralization, accountability and governance that they are confronted with in their professional lives. We look forward to these next two weeks, welcome to all participants!
