And so it started: Project LEGITIMULT's kick off meeting

We have the pleasure to announce the LEGITIMULT project’s kick-off meeting hosted by our partner EURAC, between the 17th and 18th of October 2022, in Bolzano. The IFF is one of the several renowned institutions that took active part in this event. This marks the beginning of forward-looking research, crucial for a better understanding of the Covid-19 and future crisis.

LEGITIMULT (Legitimate Crisis Governance in Multilevel Systems), is a European project which aims to identify rules for legitimate and democratic governance in times of crisis, starting from the recent Covid-19 pandemic. In doing so, it will analyse the impact of the measures taken during the Covid-19 crisis on the democratic functioning of 27 European Union countries, as well as Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and the United Kingdom. It brings together institutions from ten European countries and Canada under the scientific coordination of the International Research and Consulting Centre (IRCC) of the Institute for Federalism and the University of Fribourg.

The successfully-concluded event set the first step of what will be a comprehensive collaboration among different institutions and universities, which will enable us to draw lessons from the recent Covid-19 pandemic and, thus, eventually offer the tools necessary to cope with future crisis.
