Prof. Dr. Edgar Forster

The members of the Department of Education Sciences mourn the sudden and unexpected loss of Edgar Forster, Professor of Education Sciences with a focus on globalisation and education.

With his passing, the Department and the entire University of Fribourg not only lose a stimulating, critical scientist with integrity, but also a collegial, supportive, reliable, endearing colleague and valuable person.

His sudden death is a shock and a heavy loss for our department and for all those who were associated with him in academia and who benefitted from his keen intellectual discourse, especially in the field of the history of knowledge and science, educational theory, gender studies and postcolonial studies. That he is no longer with us leaves a gap that cannot soon be filled.
